The Mission of AMP
The Association of Movie Productions is a community of student filmmakers that strive to encourage the development of:
- Leaders with the ability to organize and motivate others on projects.
- Artists with an understanding of the language of their art and continuing desire to learn.
- Craftsmen with technical proficiency in digital video.
- And ultimately, to provide students with a base that will help them in their pursuit of a range of cinema-related opportunities after college.
Workshops
Every week we offer workshops through the InnovationSpace student workshops called SpaceCamp (spacecamp.is.vt.edu). Workshops cover everything from the basics of using cameras and editing to more advanced classes in motion graphics, cinematography, and DVD authoring.
Screenings
Come hang out with other AMPians! Each month we host at least two movie screenings at someone’s apartment or at the Lyric depending on when everyone is available and what we want to see.
Projects
Each semester our members take on various projects ranging from class assignments, short narrative fiction, documentary, to music videos and commercials. We do our best to connect anyone who has a project with the resources they need to accomplish their goals.
Your Film
Got an idea for a film and need a crew? Pitch your project at one of our meetings and we’ll do our best to help you get your movie completed.
Weekly Meetings
We all have busy schedules and classes in the morning so we try to keep Monday night meetings brief. However, they are a good opportunity to see what is going on with the projects we are producing and find out about projects you may want to help out on. Sometimes we have optional workshops or improv shoots after the meeting.
Don’t worry if you can’t make it to all the Monday night meetings. Feel free to just get on the listserv and join our facebook group and come out to the screenings or get on the email list of a production.
