Submission Guidlines for 48 Hour Film Festival

The mimimum length of any submitted short film must be no shorter than 20 seconds, while the maximum length may not excede 10 minutes.

The entry fee for each film is $15 and is due with your submitted film after 48 hours. You may work in teams or alone. If you or your team wishes to submit more than one entry you may. However, you must let us know through email so we can provide you with another theme. You may not do another film with the same theme. Also, keep in mind that you must pay an entry fee for each film.

Please submit your film on a data DVD with an uncompressed version of your film. If this is not possible, please provide us with a miniDV tape of your film, cued to the correct position. If your movie/video/film is on any other format (16mm film, BetaCam, HI-8, etc.), unfortunately we need you to convert/transfer the format into a data DVD or miniDV. The New Media Center in 1140 Torgersen Hall has editing bays that will allow you to convert to miniDV from various formats such as HI-8, VHS, BetaCam, 8MM, and DVCAM to name a few. Call them at 540-231-4826 for more information about what equipment they have to edit/convert video.

We also do not allow copyrighted music and video on any of the submitted films.

Details on where to submit your film will be given to you when you recieve your theme.
